Apple Presses for Cider Making.

Workman and Sons had a small engineering works where Allen and Elliott’s garage is now. As well as making Cider presses, they sold Garrett’s traction engines and serviced Centinal steam lorries.

At another competition in Glastonbury their cider press dealt with 1,800 lbs (816 kgs) of apples in 23 minutes, their nearest rival took 1 hr 50 minutes for the same quantity before being put out of action by a stone in amongst the apples!
