Peter was not only a founder member and past chairman of Slimbridge Local History Society but also one of the driving forces that kept the society relevant and moving forward. It was his leadership, determination and persistence that ensured that the society is here today.
Indeed, Peter’s influence extends beyond the society into other local organisations such as the Gardening and Bridge clubs. He was one of those people who turned a village and a parish into a community.
We will sorely miss his knowledge and enthusiasm which was demonstrated as late as last Thursday when he researched evidence of the great flood and brought an excerpt along to the meeting for everyone to hear.
We will miss you Peter, you are not somebody who is easily replaced.
We will publish details of the funeral arrangements when they are announced.
