We were delighted to welcome local author – and polar history enthusiast - Katherine McInnes to give our August presentation. Her book Snow Widows recounts the stories of the women behind five of the men who lost their lives during Captain Robert Falcon Scott’s Antarctic expedition. It was a fascinating look at the lives of these Edwardian women, including details revealed for the first time, illustrated with photographs and newsreel footage. Katherine also told of her own travels to Antarctica while researching her book.
