Howard Parker, chair of the Vale of Berkeley Railway Trust, delivered a fascinating talk on the latest developments in the 10-year volunteer project to transform a section of the closed Sharpness branch line into a heritage railway attraction. In particular, there was great excitement about the forthcoming Return to Sharpness event running at the end of July, when trains would run for four days between Oldminster sidings to the Berkeley Road junction – the first time trains had run on this stretch for 60 years!
