We can help you pass the time

There is always a silver lining. Just because we have had to postpone our meetings you don’t have to miss your dose of Local History! We have a wealth of information on our “History Drive” – a repository for photographs, texts, records, and reminiscences. As a member you should have received a link giving you access, but if you are not sure or want help please let us know on Slimbridge_Local_History_Society@Outlook.com, or Slimbridge.LHS@gmail.com.

If you are confined to your house, now is a good time to go in the attic and dig out your old photos or documents of local interest and we can add them to our archive for the benefit of future generations. If you have any photos could you pick out a few of interest and provide a few words describing what the photo is showing, and the names of any people you can identify. Ideally drop the photos in to me, Robert Eveleigh or Neil Howarth – but if that is not possible then email us and we will arrange something.

We also have a wealth of books in our library on historical subjects. If you would like to come and choose some to fill those days of isolation let us know and we will endeavour to arrange a suitable opportunity.

Photo 2020 is destined to portray a parish in an unprecedented situation. Whether it is empty shelves or quiet roads, stockpiling and warning notices, please take a quick picture and send it to us. We will schedule group photos around the parish when it is wise to do so.
